New Book review: The Whispers by Ashley Audrain
Summary:
Everything on Harlow Street seems absolutely perfect.
The book begins with a seemingly perfect outdoor picnic at a beautiful home, but one mother loses her cool and everyone hears it. Later the same family has a tragic accident in their home which makes secrets surface.
This neighborhood is not so perfect after all.
My Thoughts:
Ashley Audrain has a way of expressing each character’s deep and raw emotions unlike most authors.
The storyline begins where the reader may think they are reading a book about neighbors like a normal domestic drama, but Audrain goes many layers deeper into each character. The plot unfolds bringing light to many uncomfortable truths and inner dialogue and feelings by the women.
Audrey Audrain is such a skilled writer. She goes beyond the surface level plot and discusses the uncomfortable feelings and thoughts of her characters.
And that last line of the book!! Talk about a mic drop!!
Trigger warning: infertility, adultery, abusive parents
