Ruth Rendell is such a fabulous writer. She writes so well and can create a setting that brings the reader right into the storyline while also creating suspense.
Liza lives in an isolated estate with her mom until she is a teenager. She is taught school at home and enjoys her time with her mother; however, she has seen her mother do some terrible things.
The story shifts from past to present throughout to explain her childhood.
I gave this suspenseful thriller 4 out of 5 stars.
