Book Review: The Stranger Diaries by Elly Griffiths

Summary:

As an English teacher, I enjoyed reading the perspective of another English teacher, Clare Cassidy, who has a special interest in Gothic novelist R.M. Holland. One of Clare’s closest friends, who is a fellow English teacher at their school, is murdered, and Clare is devastated. Clare begins to receive small notes in her diary and signs that the murderer has been in her house. The gothic mysteries begin to parallel with Clare’s life and Clare is horrified. She fears for her life and for her daughter.

My Thoughts:

I read this on Kindle and listened on Audible through Whispersync. I loved the narrators in this novel. They did an excellent job with telling the story and voice inflection! I absolutely loved the characterization, especially of Herbert, their dog! The story takes place around Halloween with the initial murder of her friend being the night prior to Halloween.

I enjoy a good gothic mystery every so often, and this was a great one!

If you like gothic mysteries, you should definitely pick this up and read it!
