Summary:
Helen, Charlie, and Rory come from a wealthy upscale upbringing. Rory and Helen are married adults now and navigating life alone since their parents have passed away. Charlie still has a relationship with his girlfriend and has a daughter from a previous relationship.
Helen has married Daniel and eventually becomes pregnant with their first child. In her prenatal class, Helen meets a single mom named Rachel. Rachel smokes, drinks, and is outlandish, but for some reason they hit it off and become friends.
Eventually the family wonders if Rachel is really friends with Helen for the right reasons or is she somehow entwined into their family.
My Thoughts:
Katherine Faulkner’s writing is captivating! The characterization of these characters is fabulous and rarely seen in novels anymore. I was so impressed by her writing!
I was shocked to find out that this was Faulkner’s debut novel! I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for her.
I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.
