Nina is recently widowed after her husband dies in a freak accident. There were many people reaching out with condolences and in the midst of these is Nick, who claims to be an old friend of her husband. Nick is good looking and charismatic and eventually begins dating Nina. Nina’s daughter, Ash, is weary of this new man in their lives.
Martha lives in another village with her infant daughter and husband, Allstair, who travels frequently for work. Martha is beginning to think something is off.
The book follows Nina, Ash, and Martha as the events unravel into twisted and dark occurrences.
