Summary:
The Perfect Mother centers around a group of new moms named The May Mothers who met online and became close friends who all gave birth around the same time. The mothers begin to get together twice a week in the park to talk about their anxieties and issues with being a new mother.
After the mothers have been meeting with their babies for weeks, one mom suggests that the group get together for drinks at a local bar for an evening of fun the night of July 4th. All of the moms are interested except Winnie, who is a single mom. Another mom arranges for a babysitter for her son. After a few drinks and a few mishaps by one of the other moms, Winnie returns home to find that her baby, Midas, is missing.
Quickly the events spiral into a media windstorm of rumors and accusations. Three of the moms take it upon themselves to risk everything to find Midas.
The Perfect Mother is set to be a movie starring Kerry Washington according to EW.
My thoughts:
I enjoyed this book! It was a quick read that kept me captivated the entire time. I enjoyed the characters and the different perspectives of what was going on in all of their lives while they risk so much to find baby Midas. The feelings of the new mothers are so real and relatable. I was pretty shocked at the ending! I definitely didn’t see it coming!
I gave this 4/5 stars on Goodreads.
