Summary:
Seraphina’s mother committed suicide hours after the birth of her and her twin brother. Even stranger, the au pair also left the town and was never heard from again.
The novel switches between the current time period, which is shortly after the death of Seraphine’s father and back to when the au pair was working for the family.
As Seraphine packs up her father’s belongings, she finds a photo with her mother just holding one baby prior to her suicide. Who is the baby? Why aren’t both twins in the photo?
Seraphine begins to investigate and try to find the only one who can answer the questions: the au pair.
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this twisty mystery. It was a suspenseful read that I read on a plane ride and then several hours on the beach. It is a quick read that kept my attention. I definitely would read another book by Emma Rous.
I gave it 4/5 stars on Goodreads.
