Book review: The Club by Ellery Lloyd

Summary:

Ned and Adam are brothers and owners of an exclusive club that include luxury hotels around the world and now are opening a posh resort on an island called Island Home.

The novel begins with a under mystery that is in present time and then the following chapters give the background information with alternating narrators.

My Thoughts:

It starts off with a bang with a murder that the reader will definitely be curious about! After the murder hook, it drags a bit slowly, and it hardly held my interest. The background information of the characters was important to the reader though. The characters were extremely unlikable. The island description gave me vibes of Epstein’s island, so I was left with a bad taste in my mouth once I had this thought.

The latter half of the novel tended to get better, but it is still a very dark read with not as much humor and satire as People Like Her.

I really had high hopes for this book based on Reese Witherspoon’s recommendation and her choosing this as a book of the month, but I was pretty disappointed.
