This was my second book by Alafair Burke, and she is the real deal!

Twenty years ago, Olivia Randall dated Jack Harris and broke his heart. Jack thought they would spend the rest of their lives together, and Olivia threw it all away.

As time passed, Olivia Randall has developed into one of New York’s best criminal attorneys. Olivia had always followed Jack Harris through the media after his wife Molly was murdered in a massacre at Penn Station in New York City three years ago. Jack and his daughter were left alone after the loss of Molly.

Jack Harris now lives with his teenage daughter, Buckley, and Jack is getting lonely as a widow.

When running one morning along the Hudson River, Jack spots a beautiful girl in last night’s party dress, barefoot, drinking champagne, and reading his favorite book. Jack’s best friend finds the woman on a message board.

The day Jack is to meet her, there is murder of three people at the spot he is to meet her. Jack is accused of triple homicide.

Olivia decides to try to absolve her guilt and defend Jack in court.

The novel is written through the perspective of Olivia, so the reader explores all of the different scenarios and possibilities of what happened the morning of the murder.

This novel is extremely suspenseful and addicting just like The Wife. There are so many twists and turns, and the reader will just keep guessing what happened! The ending is shocking!

Read this novel if you are looking for some suspense in your life!

I gave this a 4/5 stars on Goodreads……….
